- 42% of college graduates never read another book.
- 80% of U.S. families did not buy or read a book in 2002.
- 57% of new books are not read to completion. Most readers do not get past page 18 in a book they have purchased.
- Each day, people in the US spend 4 hours watching TV, 3 hours listening to the radio and 14 minutes reading magazines.
- 65% of American children have television sets in their bedrooms.
- It is estimated that people spend as much as 80% (38 hours per week) of their non-working, non-sleeping time in front of a television or computer screen.
- Nearly 70% of the world’s people (4+ billion) are oral communicators.
- That means... only 20% to 30% of the world’s people are print or literate communicators.
- Researchers believe that 70% or more of the people in North America prefer non-literate means of communication.

That's crazy...
Y'know, if so many people are oral communicators, why aren't there more people vocalizing the message of Jesus Christ?
Or maybe it's that there are too many dissenting voices drowning out the message. Too many people are watching and listening to the oral communicators that advocate secularism.
I'm just as guilty when it comes to spending time in front of a tv or computer screen... But we need to decrease our attention to the flashing images and allow God to increase our fellowship w/ Him.
"They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths." 2 Timothy 4:4
...sounds like our present society at large. Myths are so much more interesting than Truth.

There is no real moral distinction between what teachers and educators are doing on a vast scale and what professional athletes do on a smaller scale when they take steroids to enhance performance.
As The Washington Times noted, according to the Digest of Education Statistics, spending for public education, in constant (inflation-adjusted) dollars, rose from $6,256 a year per student before "A Nation at Risk" to $10,464 in the 2002-2003 school year. Taxpayers have thus raised their annual contribution to education by a full two-thirds in real dollars in a quarter century. More than generous.
Under George W. Bush, U.S. Department of Education funding has risen 92 percent in six years, from $35.5 billion in 2001 to $68 billion in 2007. Sinking test scores are what we have to show for it.
Taxpayers are being lied to and swindled by the education industry, which has failed them, failed America and flunked its assignment -- and should be expelled for cheating.
